<p><img class="alignnone size-large wp-image-3210" title="100_2710" src="http://bikeskirt.com/tirelever/home/.saul/bike_skirt/www.bikeskirt.com/tirelever/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/100_2710-768x1024.jpg" alt="" width="461" height="614" /></p>
<p>*********************************************************************************************</p>
<p>I wear layers. On this day, I wore a lightweight denim dress over leggings and boots. Added a warm cardigan for the ride in. When the weather warmed, I lost the cardi and the leggings and was good to go (I can never remember to take the &#8216;after&#8217; photo)!</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-large wp-image-3211" title="100_2713" src="http://bikeskirt.com/tirelever/home/.saul/bike_skirt/www.bikeskirt.com/tirelever/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/100_2713-768x1024.jpg" alt="" width="461" height="614" /></p>
<p>**************************************************************************************The dress is longer than it looks here, I promise! Layers are the answer to all of my current wardrobe weather issues. You?</p>

<p>********************************************************************************************</p>
<p>Every Wednesday night in the Fall, New Orleans has <a href="http://www.harvestthemusic.org/" onclick="urchinTracker('/outgoing/www.harvestthemusic.org/?referer=');">Harvest the Music</a>. This is a free concert in Lafayette Square to raise money and awareness for <a href="http://no-hunger.org/" onclick="urchinTracker('/outgoing/no-hunger.org/?referer=');">Second Harvest Food Bank of New Orleans</a>. The concerts feature great musicians (<a href="http://www.irmathomas.com/" onclick="urchinTracker('/outgoing/www.irmathomas.com/?referer=');">Irma Thomas</a>, <a href="http://www.blindboys.com/" onclick="urchinTracker('/outgoing/www.blindboys.com/?referer=');">Blind Boys of Alabama</a>, <a href="http://www.dirtydozenbrass.com/" onclick="urchinTracker('/outgoing/www.dirtydozenbrass.com/?referer=');">Dirty Dozen Brass Band</a>, and more) and this week was no exception. I had been looking forward to it since they made the announcement: <a href="http://www.tromboneshorty.com/" onclick="urchinTracker('/outgoing/www.tromboneshorty.com/?referer=');">Trombone Shorty</a>! For those who don&#8217;t know, <a href="http://www.tromboneshorty.com/" onclick="urchinTracker('/outgoing/www.tromboneshorty.com/?referer=');">Trombone Shorty</a> is a local star who is good looking, a great singer and a killer brass player. He in gaining recognition and fame far from New Orleans as well. A free show with him is a gift.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6038/6254116025_f9d76a217d_z.jpg" alt="" width="512" height="384" /></p>
<p>********************************************************************************</p>
<p>Clearly, I rode my bike to the concert as parking is a total bitch downtown. Riding home in the night air, a bit cool and windy, was the perfect end to the evening. Finding <a href="http://www.uptown-pr.com/" onclick="urchinTracker('/outgoing/www.uptown-pr.com/?referer=');">friends</a> at the concert and dancing outside was the perfect way to spend a Wednesday night.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6041/6254589902_eb9b049f67_z.jpg" alt="" width="432" height="576" /></p>
<p>*************************************************************************</p>
<p>New Orleans, if you haven&#8217;t come out to <a href="http://www.harvestthemusic.org/" onclick="urchinTracker('/outgoing/www.harvestthemusic.org/?referer=');">Harvest the Music</a> yet this season, hurry! There are a few left and it is the best thing in this city right now.</p>

<p>Have you been riding more this week?  Has fall finally shown up for you?</p>

<p>From here on out I think that Fall will forever be knows instead as <em>Cross Season</em>.  Today I spent a sunny day drinking beer, hanging out and watching CYCLOCROSS! at Sloss Furnace.  Sloss is the <a href="http://www.slossfurnaces.com/the-foundation/historic-landmark.html" onclick="urchinTracker('/outgoing/www.slossfurnaces.com/the-foundation/historic-landmark.html?referer=');">only publicly held industrial site in the world</a>, as well as a killer spot for a cross race.   I, unlike Anna, was not racing so I came out ready to take in all the glory that is a bike race. Glorious it was.</p>
<p><a href="http://bikeskirt.com/tirelever/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/DSC_0232.JPG"><img class="size-large wp-image-836 alignnone" title="DSC_0232" src="http://bikeskirt.com/tirelever/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/DSC_0232-680x1024.jpg" alt="DSC_0232" width="600" height="850" /></a></p>
<p>Bici Coop team did very well, with Sam (took 2nd!), Alan (flatted out 2nd lap and had to run it in), Jesse Heath, Heath, Aaron Lane and Sean Malone in the mens 4-5 class and Anna (got 4th, maybe 3rd&#8230;jury is still out!) for the ladies.</p>
<p>The course wasn&#8217;t too muddy but had it&#8217;s share of gravel, hills, switchbacks and obstacles.  The site of bikes kicking up dirt in front of the huge foundry was beautiful.  Add beer and some good friends and I had a Sunday to write home about.  Oh and lots of bloody knees and elbow.  I am weird, sue me.</p>
<p><a href="http://bikeskirt.com/tirelever/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/DSC_0271.JPG"><img class="size-large wp-image-837 alignnone" title="DSC_0271" src="http://bikeskirt.com/tirelever/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/DSC_0271-680x1024.jpg" alt="DSC_0271" width="600" height="850" /></a></p>
<p>Anna will be writing about her experiences during her first cross race in Part 2.  Thanks to everyone at <a href="http://www.bamacross.com/" onclick="urchinTracker('/outgoing/www.bamacross.com/?referer=');">Bamacross</a> for putting this together.  Besides the beer situation (<a href="http://www.blackwellspub.com/" onclick="urchinTracker('/outgoing/www.blackwellspub.com/?referer=');">Blackwell</a>&#8216;s I am looking at you for your no show!), everything seemed to go off without a hitch.</p>
<p><a href="http://bikeskirt.com/tirelever/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/DSC_0237.JPG"><img class="size-large wp-image-838 alignnone" title="DSC_0237" src="http://bikeskirt.com/tirelever/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/DSC_0237-1024x680.jpg" alt="DSC_0237" width="655" height="435" /></a></p>
<p>How was your weekend?</p>
