Tour de Cahaba: year 2
Last year Anna and I participated in the Tour de Cahaba. This is a ride, sponsored by Cahaba Cycles, that takes us to each of their 4 (or 3) stores. The terrain is hilly and the shops are pretty far apart. Sunday we did it again, one year and countless miles later.
What a difference a year makes. The heat index this year was 105 degrees for most of it and yet we rode on. The hills that were the hardest last year were still hard, but not quite as hard on us (read: we made it up them without having to pull over to nearly puke).
We, again, did the 45 mile ride and, again, were dog tired when finished. BUT we weren’t pissed and we saw riders the whole time. That was huge for us. It wasn’t until the last 5 miles that we wanted to die, and I think the 100 degrees had a lot to do with that.
I am not sure of the elevation, but this is by far the hardest ride we do each year. Nothing but hills, hills, hills. With the heat wave and the fact that between the last stop point and the finish was 20 miles, we stopped once for a Gatorade. Even with the stops, we made pretty decent time.
All in all I call it a success!
Whoa! Congrats on getting through the ride in one piece. Excellent idea for a fun ride!

2000 feet x 105 degrees x 65 miles = 13.65 million sweat molecules !

Woohoo yay us! And I really do look like I’m crying in that pic…
Way to go girls, proud of you both!!!
You’re both amazing! I would be crying, that’s for sure. I live in flatsville USA so any hills are a challenge. Couple that with a heat index from hell and I’m toast!
Fantastic achievement ladies, especially in that heat, I find that the hardest mix, heat and hills!
Great, happy picture of you two!
It’s always beer thirty where I live.
