Birmingham going-ons
So sorry for the delay in posting lately. So much has been happening in my life and in the city. Honestly, I have been working 14 hours today, but I wanted to let you all in on a bit of what has been going on.
Rockin’ the vote! Today the runoff election was held in Birmingham for a new mayor. Freddy and I went to the polls and, after telling him that he must wait outside to bask in the warmth and sunshine, I went and exercised my right. Truly, if we want change in Birmingham (and who doesn’t?), then we must make our voices heard. Whomever ends up being the new mayor (Cooper please), I intend to make my voice heard on issues pertaining to pedestrians and cyclists. If not how on earth do I expect change?
Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities- Birmingham was awarded this HUGE ASS grant, one of only 41 cities. Friends, this is a very hopeful thing for our fair city. 2 of the goals directly pertain to me, and I couldn’t be more excited.
Goal #3: Develop a Food Policy Council to promote best practices and policies and participate in the Greater Birmingham Community Food Partners. (that’s me!)
Goal #7: Create Greenway connectors to provide more opportunities for children and their families to engage in Active living. (that’s Bici) To this end, we are organizing a Bikeable Birmingham Task Force and then hosting a Bike Summit.
very hopeful indeed.
Anything fun going on in your lives?
I do hope to be blogging more…hope to.

It looks like you discovered what I did – cyclists get to park close in when voting!
