Hey Fairhope…

I appreciate the thought, but, really?! Can anyone explain the logic behind this to me?

You can just hook your U-lock through the drain. Obviously.

You said you wanted bike parking. Now you want something to lock it to? Gosh!

I’d worry about someone pulling their car into that space without looking. Aside from the bike rack, some concrete stops on one end would be great.

Is this some kind of office parking?

What I find most interesting is what appears to be a huge oil stain in the middle. Somebody must have REALLY overdone the grease in the bottom bracket.

This is parking for the library. It’s even funnier because they do have bike racks right by the doors, but I guess they decided that this little spot would be handy too! You can’t really tell in the pic, but it used to be a handicap parking space.

Well, better than nothing. At least you can put the bike somewhere and don’t have to leave it on the sidewalk or a worry about it getting knocked over by a car — just in case the bike racks are already full maybe?! Don’t really see the logic myself.
If the put some racks there it would be much better though. Maybe they will in the future?

Maybe it is for your thriving population of bakfiets riders? You have one of those, right? ;)

Maybe someone stole a poorly secured bike rack. I just hope no ones whip was on it at the time.
